YELLOWKNIFE — PCL has topped out a 50-unit mass timber housing project in Yellowknife.
Mobilization on the site began on March 3 and structural components were manufactured off-site and then arrived later that month.
The build not only features prefabricated mass timber construction but also panelized wall systems and biomass heating to improve energy-efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs.
Once finished the project will consist of 25 barrier-free bachelor suites for seniors and singles and 25 two-bedroom units for small families.
Structural components for the building were manufactured at the Kalesnikoff Mass Timber facility in Castlegar, B.C.Â
Completion is set for 2027.
